The Virtual OS Museum - Downloads
Downloads
Currently, while I have tried to test at least one guest installation for each emulator within the OS museum VM, and all guests have been confirmed to work at some point in the past on my machine, testing of all guest installations within the OS museum VM is still an ongoing process (a little under half have been tested so far).
The full edition includes everything pre-downloaded and can be used fully offline, whereas the lite edition is much smaller and doesn’t include any disk/tape/etc. images for installations, downloading them the first time an installation is run (which means an internet connection is required to run an installation that hasn’t yet been downloaded). The same guest VM installations are available in both editions, and both editions update packages from the same underlying repository.
If you have already downloaded the VM once, you do not normally need to re-download the entire thing to obtain new guest VM installations when they are added. If you enabled automatic update on startup, they will be downloaded then; if update on startup is disabled, you may manually use the “Check for updates” item in the File menu of the launcher to manually download any available updates.
If you find this interesting, I welcome your support, either in the form of subscriptions on Patreon, tips on Ko-fi, or contributions of additional OS images/media to include. If you wish to see what I’m currently working on, you can subscribe to me on YouTube, follow me on BlueSky, or read my blog. I also have a Discord/Fluxer community (the two are bridged) where you can discuss retrocomputing and OS development as well as suggesting new OSes to add.
Any commercial software in this collection is included for purposes of historical research and preservation only, and to the best of my knowledge, all included commercial software versions haven’t been available for sale anywhere for a long time. If you are the copyright holder of anything included here and want it removed, please contact me and I will remove it ASAP.
See the README for more information on how to run this (it’s also included in the download and displayed on first boot of the VM).

Lite edition (14G zipped, 22G unzipped):
This is the only one that is on version 2026.06.15, while the others are still on 2026.06.12; it has been updated to fix an issue with the wrong repository being used when downloading images if update on startup wasn’t enabled, which only really affects the lite version (the update is already available through the launcher as well).
